THE STUDIO
For over 15 years, our Halifax based studio has focused on creating thoughtful new homes, retreats, and transformative renovations across Atlantic Canada. By taking on a select number of projects each year, our team stays closely involved in every detail, supported by a trusted network of engineers, builders, and craftspeople.
Our work balances contemporary clarity with a deep appreciation for natural materials, light, and proportion. We favor timeless finishes and finely crafted details that create spaces that feel grounded, tactile, and built to endure.
Modern design tools are central to our design process. With 3D models, photorealistic renderings, and immersive VR walkthroughs, clients can explore their future home long before construction begins - removing guesswork and ensuring decisions around light, scale, materials, and proportions are confident and informed.
Shaped by the landscapes and vernacular traditions of the East Coast, our architecture aims to feel rooted in place while responding to the rhythms of contemporary living. Each project begins with conversation and trust, and we accompany our clients from the first sketch to completion - designing homes that reflect who they are and evolve gracefully over time.
THE TEAM
David Bourque, Principal Architect and Founder, leads the studio with a multidisciplinary perspective shaped by early studies in engineering and sculpting, paired with hands-on experience in construction. A graduate of Dalhousie University’s Master of Architecture program, he refined his approach in acclaimed studios across Halifax, London, Amsterdam, and Rotterdam - experiences that inform a practice grounded in material clarity, thoughtful craft, and the lived experience of space. His leadership has been recognized provincially and regionally, including being named one of Nova Scotia’s Top 21 Leaders for the 21st Century and one of Atlantic Canada’s Top 50 Emerging Leaders by 21inc.
This commitment to thoughtful making extends to the way each project comes together. Every design is realized in close collaboration with a trusted network of makers and specialists - including general contractors, structural engineers, surveyors, landscape designers, specialty steel fabricators, heavy-timber craftspeople, interior designers, cabinet makers, branding agencies, and material suppliers. Their collective expertise ensures ideas move from concept to construction with precision and care.
Together, this leadership and collaborative expertise delivers projects that are thoughtfully crafted, grounded in place, and designed to evolve gracefully - while remaining attentive to budget, schedule, and the practical realities of building.
