TANDEM FAMILY LAW
In downtown Moncton, a progressive law firm trades corner offices for collaborative space and daylight.
When the founders of Tandem Family Law made the leap from established practices to launch their own firm, they saw more than just a business opportunity - they saw a chance to reimagine the traditional law office from the ground up.
Occupying 6,000 square feet across two levels in a downtown Moncton building, Tandem’s new headquarters reflects a deliberate departure from hierarchy and opacity in favor of openness, equity, and flexibility.
On the ground floor, glass-walled meeting rooms frame the perimeter, allowing natural daylight to reach the central corridor and interior offices. A custom-designed privacy film softly diffuses light, ensuring that while the space feels open and luminous, occupants and spaces retain a sense of discretion.
Upstairs, the layout is fully unassigned - no partner offices, no fixed desks. Instead, a mix of soft seating, height-adjustable workstations, and movable furniture lets employees choose how and where they work. Writable walls, custom signage, and carefully zoned lighting enhance both function and flow, creating an environment that easily shifts from heads-down focus to informal meetings or even evening events.
The material palette is spare but deliberate: crisp white walls meet glass partitions and black detailing, while subtle pops of blue and purple - pulled from Tandem’s brand identity - appear in upholstery, local artwork, and graphic wall treatments.
At a time when professional offices are being redefined, Tandem Family Law proves that even the most traditional institutions can embrace change - with design leading the way.
