GARDEN GANGSTERS

In Toronto’s Liberty Village, a 200 square-foot eatery proves that loud minimalism - and bold color - can pack a punch.

Located in Toronto’s Liberty Village, this micro-sized eatery leans hard into the concept of “loud minimalism,” where raw materials meet vivid colors and unexpected details to create an environment that’s both stripped-back and striking. At just 200 square feet, the space demanded both restraint and creativity. Rather than compete with the compact footprint, the design embraced it - distilling the brand’s essence into a bold, high-impact interior that reads as equal parts utilitarian and expressive. High ceilings and exposed concrete lend a sense of openness, while walls, ceilings, and floors are covered in matching hues, creating a seamless color field that envelops the visitor from the moment they step inside. The brand’s signature green pops against a canvas of monochromatic whites, visible from the street and instantly recognizable. Custom CNC-cut metal details add texture and depth. Brass accents offer a touch of refinement in an otherwise industrial palette. The result is an experience that feels larger than its footprint - visually captivating, easy to replicate, and rooted in a design language that’s as fresh as the food it serves.
